Required Installation Procedure:

(These steps are relating to the skin itself and it is assumed you have a configured, working roadrunner install *** Make sure you are using roadrunner.exe from 11-4-2007 or newer *** this version of shock skin was built on the 11-4-2007 release of roadrunner and it is a requirement)

# This version requires registering the GDIpluswrapper.dll with your system. If you have not done this yet please head over to the scripts directory in the skin and run REGISTER_GDI.bat.

# To Use GDI+ you MUST make an entry in RR.ini that states: fastmode=-1

# If you are running XPE place the 3 batch files included in the EWF-XPE folder directly on your c: drive

# Directx7 Minimum must be present on system. You can install and register directx7 by running REGISTER_DX7.bat from the scripts. Directx8 or Directx9 are also acceptable.

# Background.skin has been finished and is in use. This requires you to make an entry in rr.ini that states:

backgroundpath=c:/path to your background dir. Please manually create this entry as rrconfig does not write this line correctly yet.

This also requires you to add this line to Exectbl.ini in the RR root directory: (May I suggest copy and paste):

"ONFILECLICK","SETVARBYCODE;imgfilename;LISTTEXT",background.skin

# Right now GPS menu supports External GPS mode only. You must set GPS mode to 'external' in RRconfig. Full screen GPS code is in the settings.txt file. You will need to modify this line in order to use an app besides iGuidance in full screen mode.

# Install Fonts in FONTS directory

Changelog from version 5.0, new in 6.0

# HD radio support. radio_player.skin is now set up to tune HD radio using the Directed or Visteon HD tuner and mitchj's (mp3car.com) cable. Use the 'play' button for direct tune. The shuffle button switches the sub channels. *Please note this menu is still in beta form!*

# WiFi Support added. Touchscreen Friendly WiFi skin included in 6.0 it is all explained in detail if you browse to the WIFI folder within the skin.

# Media Launcher is included with this release. This allows the skin to automatically detect and load USB media, CDs and DVDs. There are many options that can be used with Media Launcher. Please browse over to the 'ML' directory within the shock v6.0 skin folder for more documentation about configuring and running media launcher. It is a program written by chevyn8 and all the required skin code and files are installed, you just need to configure MediaLaunch.ini located in the 'ML' directory and set up RR to autolaunch the MediaLaunch process.

# Added static 'info' bar to display volume, speed, time, song, etc on almost every skin. This really cleaned things up a bit and has the skin looking more consistant.

# Artwork has been modified so the top, bottom and new info bars are now 75% opacity when off and 90% when on. Previous versions (3,4,5) Have used the opacity scheme of 55%,75%. The new scheme makes reading labels easier on the eyes and work better with more backgrounds.

# All directory lists have been converted to iList style. You can now 'throw' the list up/down with the flick of a finger.

# All vertical list sliders have been removed since they are no longer needed with the iList Feature
# Menu Names have been tweaked, reordered and renamed, mostly on menu_2. Mixer button is now static on menu_1.

# Dropped picviewer.skin for a freshly coded background.skin that uses the background variable.

# Skin files have been updated with "Road Runner" headers from the legacy "MediaCar" skin file headers.

# Many small tweaks to the user interface and labels.

Helpful Notes:

# Background setting is written to skin.ini file in the skin folder. You can manually configure a static path to an image for first boot if you want to display a picture background. This file gets rewritten when you change the background from the set menu.

# Playlist menu reads from playlistpath=xxx directory defined in rr.ini this must be specified in order to use the playlist menu.

# Split screen audio/GPS is available by clicking the NAV button in audio_player.skin

# Press MP3 once for audio_player, press MP3 again for audio_browser. The video menu works the same way. You can access the browser menus from anywhere by holding the MP3 or VID button

# A very nice spectrum analyzer is included with this release, it can be found in the 'visual' folder in the skin. Just drop the DLL file into your winamp/plugins directory.

# Settings.txt has many global skin settings for changing font, colors, sizes, etc.

# Many of the buttons have a hold for alternate function. You can look at the setting.txt to see what click and hold does or just test it out.

# The static bottom bar has different functions in certain menus but the same icons. The "X" on the bar is mute, the button with the 2 arrows is to toggle shuffle mode.

# Xport application has been included in the scripts folder. This allows you to virtually 'split' your GPS port so that RR and your nav software can use the same GPS signal.

# The skin can be opened and modified with RRskineditor V0.5

# Lastly, this skin was custom designed for my system and how I use my carPC. I know everyone uses their systems differently so If you would like to add menus, functions, etc. I have included the PSD files so you can add or change the menu's.

If you have any suggestions please let me know so I can implement them into version 7.0

Right now I am really trying to add more functionality to the HD menu. If you can help at all with persistant settings and HD in general drop me a line.

Thank You to mp3car members for contributing code and ideas.

Enjoy!
